Legion System Update #2: Tidying Up, and a Hint of What's Next
This week: a tidy-up of our legal pages, a switch to hide your name from public lists, one balance with one name, and a first hint of something new.
Welcome to Legion System Update #2.
Last week was pixels. This week is mostly housekeeping, with a hint of something new at the end.
It's a smaller week than the first one, but a couple of these changes are the sort that matter when you need them.
1. Some tidying of the small print
Our legal pages have had a tidy-up. There are two new pages, Website Terms of Use and an Acceptable Use Policy, both linked in the footer. The existing pages now share one layout, with a contents list at the side.
We've also moved the wording from "GB" to "UK" in a few places.
None of this changes how our quests run. Tickets are still capped, draws are still provably fair, and every quest still has a free postal entry route. If you're in the middle of one, carry on.
I have read all of these pages, more than once. I recommend them to anyone with trouble sleeping.
2. Hide your name from public lists
You can now choose to hide your name from public lists yourself, from your profile page. It's a switch called "Hide my name publicly".
Until now, that meant emailing us and waiting for somebody to change it by hand.
With it on, your entry number appears instead of your name on entry lists, the winners page and draw announcements. Your entries still count. If you win, you're announced by ticket number, and every draw can still be checked.
One caveat. The spreadsheet for a live draw is frozen when the draw is prepared, so if you flip the switch after that point, your name will still be on that one list.
3. One balance, one name
The same balance used to be called "store credit" in some places and "site credit" in others. It's now called competition credit wherever you see it.
Your balance is exactly what it was. Only the name changed.
The new name is deliberate. Something else is on its way that will need its own kind of credit, and I'd rather not have three names for one balance by then.
4. Something new is on its way
I'll say no more than this: we're building a shop.
It's still being built, and there's nothing to see yet. I'm not going to promise what's in it or when it opens until it's ready.
5. What happens next
Another update, next week.
It might be big. It might be a fix and a joke. Either way, you'll hear about it here.
If something on the site looks wrong, tell us.
Rob remains at the computer.
He has not forgotten the pixels. He's just busy with the paperwork.
